Description:

The Investigational Drug Service (IDS) is a specialized pharmacy that dispenses medications and conducts drug accountability for the clinical trials conducted at MUSC.  These studies include inpatient and outpatient services sponsored by pharmaceutical industries, cooperative groups and grants obtained by individual investigators.  We are composed of three full-time pharmacists and three full time licensed technicians all of whom have completed the NIH and Miami University training in the protection of human subjects.

The IDS routinely meets with investigators, coordinators, sponsors and clinical research organizations to coordinate pharmacy involvement in clinical trials and provide drug accountability. A few of our services include simple randomization, blinding of study medication, and inventory control. We are practiced in the dispensing of oral medication, intravenous drugs including chemotherapy as well as in preparing compounded medications.

Accessibility:

IDS is accessible to any researcher.
